Operation Hernia is a British non-profit organisation with the purpose of making highly skilled surgical care available for everybody in developing countries.

Every year a team of Belgian surgeons volunteers go on a mission to Ghana. Operation Hernia operates mainly abdominal wall defects, mostly inguinal hernias. They also train local doctors to perform the procedures and share the knowledge with nurses and local health staff.

This mission focuses on abdominal wall surgery.

The mission’s specifics: 
  • Location: Takoradi, Ghana
  • Looking for: training General Surgeon with at least 1 year of specialty training completed.
  • Language skills: must be able to function professionally in English
  • Funding: a personal contribution will be required, to be discussed with Operation Hernia
  • Insurance: provided
